YOU SHOULD NEVER SAY THIS

I was talking to a client yesterday.

She’s had a real tough time over the past few years with health conditions and unfortunately her life is a daily pain management test.

However, during our conversation I challenged her on something.

She used the 6 word sentence I always red flag and call people out on.

The dreaded…

I

just

want

to

be

normal.

Course, I understood immediately what she meant, she just wants to be out of pain.

But I explained to her this idea of being “normal” is dangerous.

[Why You Should Avoid Being Normal]

Norms are based on averages and depending on which stats you read the latest show that in the Uk alone more than 30% of the population are Obese.

By 2050 that figure is on track to double!

Taking into account obesity is behind the biggest killers of the modern world contributing to Cancer, strokes and diabetes

These are stats NOT to take lightly.

Certainly not something to aspire to!

[How I think about “Norms”]

One of the principles I’ve included in the book I’m writing is acceptance.

There are many forms of acceptance that can serve you well.

But one I’ve come to learn the importance of in recent years as I study total health further is this…

TO SUSTAIN, MAINTAIN AND BUILD HEALTH, IS DAILY EFFORT TO SWIM AGAINST THE TIDE

(The tide being the day to day obstacles/environments we face).

In Steven Pressfields words, “The Resistance”.

See, every aspect of modern day life is making it harder for us to stay healthy.

From the coffee shops who bombard you with sugary, carb heavy foods

To the workplace environments that encourage us to sit down for hours on end looking at a screen and to the digitisation of everything meaning we no longer have to walk anywhere!

Here’s the point of the mad ramble..

If you’re finding hard to stay in shape, lose weight, feel energised then guess what YOU SHOULD.

The tide IS against you.

Life has changed beyond recognition in the past 100 years.

Infact obesity statistics didn’t even exist even 50 years ago.

That’s coz obesity wasn’t even a thing.

We had to walk places to buy things

We had manual labour,

And real food was the ONLY option.

So the real question is, “Where can you overcome the resistance
and beat the “norm?”

HINT: You have to actively look for these areas.

All the 1%’s count.

Search for them or the norms will get you!
