....Have You Ever Said This?
“I Really Regret That Awesome Workout”
After 4 hours of back to back coaching clients I had looked at my task-list for the day.
Looooooong….
Training myself happened to be on it of course!
But…after already spending 4 hours in the gym it was certainly the least desirable task.
Not to mention how urgent the other tasks felt.
BUT the kicker was…
I’d already committed to the session by booking in advance. (This is why I believe LPT’s training programs are so effective over sporadic gym exercise classes)
So I did it and boy was it a tough workout.
It was one of those where you ask yourself the question, “When will this end!”.
Shortly after the session came a realisation though…
Not for one second did I regret choosing that task over the million & one other tasks on my list that day.
Then I asked myself a follow up question…
Can I remember a time that I wish I had ever chosen another task over improving my general health & fitness?
Again the answer was no.
Maybe you have?
But I bet you can only think of 1 or 2 occasions in your whole life?
The point is, if this IS an activity that only ever has an upside then why do we always gravitate to choosing more mundane easier tasks instead?
(For full transparency I very nearly did)
It’s pretty simple.
Humans are designed to always seek comfort.
Our brains in particular are designed to survive as a first priority.
Surviving requires avoiding all stress where possible.
And yes exercise IS a stressor.
(A bloody good one)
So next time you, “Are just not feeling it”, remember, there’s a high likelihood you will NOT regret it.
I’m going to be asking this question to our members of Mastering YOU as I’m super curious as to the answer.
